US Unemployment History

This graph documents the data from the end of the Reagan era, till today (with notation).

The blue circle at the right is the "Obama Stimulus" passing. It took three months before the effects are realized, but it is certainly not a "failed" effort. Look at the trend line we were on before it passed? That red line stretches to a full global depression.

I had real concern when I heard the size of the Stimulus package, but as of now, I totally see it kept the entire economy from imploding. Now it's time to attack the National Debt! Cut and Tax, starting in 2013..

A side note, when the Obama Administration said they hoped the stimulus would keep unemployment below 8.5%, we were already above 8.5% (data lag time). No one believed it was really that bad, including Dick Cheney, George Bush and Carl Rove.
